I began this blog during my Hosking Houses Trust Residency in 2013, where I received a Bursary and use of beautiful Church Cottage for three months. I went back again in 2015 and 2016 working on another musical, I am now here again in 2017.
The Hosking Houses Trust was registered as a charity in 1999, with the aim of founding residential fellowships for women writers and they soon hope to open it up to artists and composers. Church Cottage (suitable for writers) was acquired by the Trust in 2001.
Their first residency was in 2002.
Resident writers have included: Timberlake Wertenbaker, Joan Bakewell, Sally Vickers, Wendy Cope, Kitty Fitzgerald, Val Horsler, Elizabeth Speller and Geraldine Pilgrim .
Some of the residencies have been a collaboration with the RSC or the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.
The requirements are: Women over the age of forty, with the legal right to be in the UK or Ireland with a contract for original work to be published, broadcast or performed.
They give a monthly bursary and pay all costs for Church Cottage, when funds are available, but if not it is possible to apply for a grant from the Arts Council. There are no imposed duties.
