Wolf Hall

Today I was incredibly excited to discover that the RSC have got the rights to stage Hilary Mantel’s wonderful novels Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies.  Gregory Doran, the artistic Director of the RSC says that he has a good idea who he wants to play the part of Cromwell, but for the moment it is being kept a secret.

I heard Hilary Mantel talking about it all on the radio today and she sounded very excited as well!!  She said that there is also going to be a TV version.  I am not surprised though, I loved the books, the use of language is so rich it makes you want to weep.  They are incredibly visual… from the first vicious page of Wolf Hall I felt that I could smell the dirt and the blood… she is truly one of our greatest writers.

You can read more about it all in the this piece from the Guardian.
